Gautam Budh Nagar DM BN Singh flags off LED Van to spread awareness on VVPAT to voters

Noida: Ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate, Brajesh Narayan Singh today flagged-off LED Van from Noida Camp office to spread awareness among the voters about Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
The LED-Vans will spread awareness about the VVPAT machine which will be used in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The purpose of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail System is to print the selection of the voter on a slip for the voter to visually verify the vote cast and satisfy himself/herself.
Addressing the media B N Singh said, “ Lok Sabha elections are close, to spread awareness about the voting rights of the citizens, two LED vans has been flagged-off today which will roam around the district”.
VVPAT provides a visual verification to the voter by printing the cast vote on a thermal paper ballot slip. When the voter presses the button on the Ballot Unit to vote for the candidate of his / her choice, the VVPAT prints a ballot slip of size 99 mm length.
VVPAT was introduced in the electoral process after Electronic Voting Machines was levelled with various allegations of tampering.
The LED-vans are loaded with shorts video advertisements like, how voters can registered themselves with Election Commissions through online application, process of changing permanent address and on several other issues faced by the voters.
