Greater Noida News (01/05/2026): The Department of Mass Communication and Media Studies at Gautam Buddha University organized a special lecture to mark the occasion of Devarshi Narad Jayanti and World Press Freedom Day on April 30, 2026. The programme was conducted at the Conference Hall of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and research scholars.

The lecture revolved around the theme, “Adya Communicator Devarshi Narad and the Ethical Challenges of the Present Information Age,” highlighting the relevance of traditional communication values in today’s fast-paced digital environment.

Renowned senior journalist Dr. Harshvardhan Tripathi delivered the keynote address. In his speech, he described Devarshi Narad as one of the earliest communicators in Indian tradition, emphasizing his role in facilitating dialogue, spreading information, and bridging societal gaps. He pointed out that in the current digital landscape—where information travels instantly—the principles of truth, neutrality, and ethical reporting have become more crucial than ever. He also cautioned against the growing threats of fake news, misinformation, and ethical conflicts arising from social media platforms.

Welcoming the guests, Head of the Department Prof. Bandana Pandey stated that Devarshi Narad should not be viewed merely as a mythological character but as a representation of effective communication, speed, and social responsibility. She stressed that journalism extends beyond reporting facts and carries a duty towards society. She encouraged students to adhere to ethical standards and uphold the integrity of the profession.

The event was also attended by faculty members including Dr. Vineet Kumar, Dr. Riya Maurya, and Shobha. At the end of the session, gratitude was expressed to Prof. Madhav Govind for his continuous guidance and support, which contributed significantly to the successful organization of the programme.

The lecture concluded with an engaging interaction session, offering participants valuable insights into India’s rich communication heritage while encouraging critical thinking about the ethical challenges faced by modern journalism.
