#Ghaziabad college student rapes Class X girl, held
Ghaziabad: A 21-year-old youth was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a minor girl after he found her alone in her house. The accused, identified as Rahul Bahl, is a student of physiotherapy in a college in Govindpuram, Ghaziabad.
Police said the alleged crime took place late on Thursday. The accused used to live in the same area where the girl’s house is located. The parents of the 15-year-old girl, who is a student of Class X, left her alone in their one-room house on Thursday.
“The youth threatened the girl with dire consequences if she revealed the rape to anyone. Neighbours of the girl’s family informed her father about the man who had gone inside the house when they were away.
Her mother registered a complaint and the youth was arrested on Friday,” said DSP Indrapal Singh.
An FIR was registered in Vijay Nagar police station on Friday. Rahul was charged under sections including 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 in the FIR. A medical examination of the girl was conducted on Friday, reports of which are awaited.
