GIMS Greater Noida Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour and Enthusiasm

Greater Noida News (16/08/2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and a strong sense of national pride. The celebrations brought together faculty members, doctors, residents, staff and students from the Medical, Nursing and Paramedical programmes.

The programme began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kr. Gupta, Director, GIMS, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the GIMS fraternity, who came together to commemorate the historic occasion and honour the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle.

A colourful cultural programme was organised as part of the celebrations, showcasing the talent and patriotic spirit of students from the Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences programmes. The programme featured a variety of performances, including solo dance, patriotic speeches, poetry recitations, solo singing, monologues and group dance presentations. Through their performances, the students highlighted themes of patriotism, national unity, sacrifice and pride in the country.

The celebrations also featured a prize distribution ceremony, during which staff members and participants were recognised for their contributions and performances. Activities conducted under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign were also acknowledged, further adding to the patriotic fervour of the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kr. Gupta, Director, GIMS, extended his warm wishes to the entire GIMS fraternity on the occasion of Independence Day. He paid tribute to the freedom fighters and bravehearts whose sacrifices paved the way for India’s independence and emphasised the responsibility of every citizen towards the progress and development of the nation.

Dr. Gupta also underlined the significant contribution of healthcare professionals to nation-building. He said that doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other healthcare workers have an important responsibility to serve society with dedication, compassion and professionalism. He appreciated the commitment and hard work of the GIMS faculty, staff and students in strengthening the institute’s mission of serving the community.

The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks delivered by Dr. Atul Kumar Gupta, Professor, Department of Surgery, GIMS. The celebrations concluded on a warm and festive note with the distribution of sweets among the attendees.

The Independence Day celebration reflected the collective spirit of patriotism, unity and enthusiasm among the GIMS fraternity. The occasion also reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to providing quality patient care, promoting excellence in medical education and advancing biomedical research in the service of the nation.
