Greater Noida News (08/05/2026): In a major advancement for child healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has enhanced its capabilities to perform advanced paediatric orthopaedic surgeries with support from Healthium MedTech’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and implementation by Plan International India Chapter.
The initiative, launched on May 7, 2026, is expected to benefit more than 1,000 children annually by providing specialised treatment for complex orthopaedic conditions closer to their homes. The upgraded facility at GIMS will now be able to treat disorders such as developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), clubfoot, limb deformities, fractures and other complicated bone-related conditions affecting children.
As part of the infrastructure enhancement, the institute has received several advanced medical devices and surgical systems, including the Midas Rex MR8 High-Speed Electric Drill System, Paediatric Hip Plating Set, Paediatric and Small Bone Drill & Saw System, specialised Paediatric Orthopaedic Instrument Sets and a state-of-the-art C-Arm imaging machine. These additions are expected to improve surgical precision, safety and treatment outcomes for paediatric patients.
Healthcare experts highlighted that India continues to face a significant burden of paediatric orthopaedic disorders, particularly in states such as Uttar Pradesh where access to specialised treatment remains limited. Conditions like clubfoot affect nearly one to two percent of children at birth, while many youngsters also suffer from deformities caused by untreated injuries, infections or delayed medical intervention. The lack of timely treatment often leads to lifelong disabilities and increased healthcare costs for families.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, chief guest Dr. G.N. Singh, Former Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) and Adviser to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said the initiative demonstrates a collective commitment toward ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for every child. He emphasised that strengthening public healthcare institutions through collaborative efforts is essential for creating an inclusive and equitable healthcare system.

Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Director of GIMS, said the newly installed equipment would significantly strengthen the institute’s ability to handle complicated paediatric orthopaedic surgeries with greater efficiency and accuracy. According to him, the upgraded infrastructure will reduce the need for patients to travel to other cities for treatment and ensure timely care within the region itself.
Highlighting the organisation’s vision behind the initiative, Healthium MedTech CEO and Managing Director Anish Bafna stated that the company remains committed to improving clinical outcomes through innovation and enhanced healthcare access. He noted that supporting specialised paediatric orthopaedic care at GIMS aligns with the company’s broader mission of empowering healthcare institutions with advanced medical technology.
Mohammed Asif, Executive Director of Plan International India Chapter, said the collaboration would directly support vulnerable communities by improving access to life-changing orthopaedic care for children. He added that the initiative aims to eliminate financial and geographical barriers that often prevent families from seeking timely treatment.
The launch programme featured the formal inauguration of the upgraded facilities, screening of an impact presentation, addresses by dignitaries and testimonials from beneficiaries. During the event, the advanced surgical equipment was officially handed over to the Orthopaedics Department at GIMS.
Several senior officials and medical professionals from GIMS attended the programme, including Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, CMS; Dr. Rambha Pathak, Dean; Dr. Vikas Saxena, Professor and Head of Orthopaedics; Dr. Prateek Rastogi, Associate Professor of Orthopaedics, along with resident doctors and faculty members.
