GIMS Kicks Off AAGHAZ Fest 2026 with Grand Opening at GBU Sports Ground

GREATER NOIDA News (05/02/2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has commenced its annual sports and cultural festival, AAGHAZ – 2026, with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation. The eight-day fest is being held from 5 to 12 February 2026 and brings together students and faculty for a celebration of sports, culture, and creativity.

The festival was formally inaugurated on 5 February at 1:00 pm at the GBU Sports Ground. The Director of GIMS, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, marked the opening of the event by releasing balloons, symbolising the beginning of a week-long series of competitive and cultural activities. Several senior officials and faculty members were present on the occasion, including Dean Dr. Rambha Pathak, CMS Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Dr. Satendra Kumar, Dr. Ranjana Verma, Dr. Aprajita Panwar, Dr. Ijen Bhattacharya, Dr. P. S. Mittal, Dr. B. S. Yadav, Dr. Bharti Bhandari, Dr. Manabendra Baidya, Dr. Pulimi Vineel, Dr. Abhishek Bharti, Dr. Sonu, and Dr. Mamta Yadav, along with residents and other faculty members.

AAGHAZ – 2026 is being efficiently organised by the GIMS Student Council under the leadership of Abhishek Kumar Singh from the MBBS 2022 batch. To mark the opening day, the finals of the girls’ cricket match between the MBBS 2023 batch and the MBBS 2022 batch were held, drawing enthusiastic participation and support from students.

The sports segment of the festival includes a wide array of events such as football, throwball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, cricket, and athletics. Faculty members will also take part in several competitions, including badminton, table tennis, cricket, shot put, tug of war, chess, and carrom, adding to the competitive spirit of the fest.

The cultural programme promises a colourful blend of activities, featuring dance, music, dramatics, fashion show, craft, painting, poster making, and other creative events. The fest also hosts intercollege competitions involving teams from GIMS, Sharda Medical College, NIMS University, and Muzaffarnagar Medical College.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, the Fresher’s Party for the MBBS 2025 batch was organised on the evening of 4 February, while the Farewell Ceremony for the MBBS 2020 batch is scheduled to be held on 6 February at the GIMS Academic Block. Among the most awaited attractions of the festival are the fashion show and the celebrity night. Renowned stand-up comedian Mohit Dudega has been invited as the celebrity performer for the event.

AAGHAZ is a much-anticipated annual celebration at GIMS, offering students and faculty a welcome break from rigorous academic routines. By providing a platform for talent, teamwork, and artistic expression, the festival continues to strengthen campus spirit. With high levels of enthusiasm and participation, AAGHAZ – 2026 is expected to be a memorable and successful edition.
