GIMS Set to Play Key Role in Strengthening RBSK Program for Child Health Improvement

Greater Noida (31 October 2025): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, is poised to make a significant contribution to the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) — a flagship national health initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of children from birth to 18 years of age.
The RBSK program, launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, focuses on the early identification and management of health conditions in children. Its core objective is to reduce child morbidity and mortality while ensuring timely intervention and improved health outcomes. The program emphasizes four critical components — screening, early detection, referral, and management — designed to address developmental delays, disabilities, and diseases in children at an early stage.
RBSK’s approach ensures that children, especially those from economically weaker sections, receive access to essential healthcare services without financial burden. By providing early intervention and specialized treatment, the initiative not only enhances quality of life but also helps in reducing long-term healthcare costs and preventing complications.
For institutions to be empanelled under the RBSK scheme, certain prerequisites must be fulfilled, including adequate infrastructure, qualified medical personnel, adherence to operational guidelines, and commitment to quality care. The empanelment process involves a structured procedure—application submission, facility inspection, and agreement signing—ensuring that only capable healthcare institutions become part of this critical national program.
With its advanced medical infrastructure, multidisciplinary expertise, and robust digital health systems, GIMS is well-positioned to strengthen RBSK’s on-ground implementation. The institute can support the initiative by conducting comprehensive child health screenings, offering specialized diagnostic and treatment facilities, and ensuring systematic data management and follow-up through its IT department.
A senior GIMS official stated that the institution remains committed to contributing meaningfully to national health missions and ensuring that every child receives timely, quality healthcare. Our focus will be on early detection and effective management of health conditions among children, helping them lead healthier and more productive lives, the official added. By partnering with the government under the RBSK framework, GIMS aims to bridge the healthcare access gap, especially for underprivileged families, and reinforce India’s vision of inclusive, preventive, and child-centric healthcare.
