Greater Noida News (18 August 2026): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, is set to host Uttar Pradesh’s first Startup Clinic for the healthcare sector on August 18, bringing together healthcare startups, innovators, investors, incubators, government agencies and regulatory experts on a common platform.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s growing healthcare innovation ecosystem by helping startups gain access to investment opportunities, clinical expertise, regulatory guidance, incubation support and industry networks.
The Startup Clinic is being organised by the Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI), GIMS, Greater Noida, in association with Alkemi Growth Capital, a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) managing a ₹1,000 crore healthcare-focused investment fund. The programme is being conducted under the StartInUP initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, with support from the MedTech Centre of Excellence (CoE), STPI at SGPGIMS, Lucknow, and the UP Promote Pharma Council.
Around 40 healthcare startups and innovators, along with representatives of incubators from across Uttar Pradesh, are expected to participate in the inaugural programme.
₹1,000 Crore Fund to Connect with Healthcare Startups
One of the key attractions of the Startup Clinic will be an Investment Readiness Clinic conducted by Alkemi Growth Capital. The session will help healthcare founders understand how institutional investors evaluate startups and what companies need to demonstrate before approaching growth-stage investors.
Alkemi Growth Capital focuses its investments on sectors including Healthcare, MedTech, HealthTech, Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Life Sciences and DeepTech. The fund typically makes investments in the range of ₹20 crore to ₹25 crore.
The investment-focused session will cover critical areas such as fundraising preparedness, institutional investment expectations, business scalability and access to growth capital. The objective is to enable promising healthcare startups from Uttar Pradesh to strengthen their business models and become better prepared for their next phase of expansion.
GIMS Strengthening Medical Innovation Ecosystem
GIMS Greater Noida has been working towards developing a dedicated ecosystem for healthcare and medical technology innovation through its Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI), a public hospital-based medical technology incubator.
The CMI is designed to bring together clinical expertise and innovation under one platform while supporting areas such as medical-device development, incubation, clinical validation, regulatory assistance and investment.
The Startup Clinic is expected to further expand this ecosystem by creating direct connections between innovators and investors, clinicians, regulators and other stakeholders. This will help startups navigate the journey from identifying clinical needs and developing innovative solutions to clinical validation, regulatory compliance and commercial scale-up.
CDSCO-GIMS Regulatory Clinic for MedTech Startups
Following the investment-readiness session, a specialised CDSCO × GIMS CMI Regulatory Clinic on Medical Devices and In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) will be conducted from 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM.
The session will provide participating startups and innovators with an opportunity to understand regulatory pathways, compliance requirements and industry-readiness standards applicable to medical devices and IVD products.
Experts from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) will interact with healthcare innovators and address their regulatory queries. The session is expected to help startups gain greater clarity on the regulatory process and requirements involved in taking medical technologies from development towards clinical and commercial deployment.
The combination of investment guidance and regulatory consultation is expected to make the Startup Clinic particularly useful for MedTech and healthcare startups looking to transition from the innovation stage to clinical validation and market readiness.
Senior Government and Industry Leaders to Participate
The programme will bring together senior representatives from the government, healthcare, technology, investment and innovation sectors.
Alok Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, will deliver the Chief Guest Address. Alka Goel, Founding Partner, Alkemi Funds, will deliver the keynote address.
The programme will also feature the participation of Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS; Vandana Srivastava, Director, STPI-Noida and CEO, MedTech CoE, Lucknow; and Dr. Sandeep Sharma, General Manager, Uttar Pradesh Promote Pharma.
Focus on Capital, Clinical Validation and Regulatory Readiness
The Uttar Pradesh Startup Clinic has been envisioned as a platform bringing together the key components required to build a successful healthcare innovation ecosystem—capital, clinical validation, regulatory excellence, incubation, industry partnerships and growth opportunities.
By facilitating interaction among startups, investors, clinicians, regulators, incubators and ecosystem partners, the initiative seeks to help healthcare innovators develop solutions that are clinically relevant, compliant with regulatory requirements, investment-ready and capable of scaling.
The programme also aims to strengthen collaboration between Uttar Pradesh’s government healthcare institutions and its rapidly developing startup ecosystem. Through such partnerships, the initiative seeks to encourage the development of healthcare technologies and solutions that can contribute to more accessible, affordable and quality healthcare.
The Startup Clinic is being positioned as an important step towards creating stronger pathways for healthcare innovators in Uttar Pradesh—from identifying clinical problems and developing solutions to obtaining validation, regulatory approvals, investment and eventual commercial deployment.
The programme reflects a broader effort to build a collaborative healthcare innovation ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh, where clinical institutions, startups, investors, regulators and industry can work together to accelerate the development and adoption of new healthcare technologies.
