Greater Noida News (13/06/2026): Taking another significant step toward positioning Uttar Pradesh as a global hub for trade, investment, and exports, the promotional campaign for the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS 2026) was officially launched with a grand roadshow in New Delhi. The event marked the beginning of a nationwide outreach campaign designed to connect industry leaders, exporters, investors, trade bodies, and domestic as well as international buyers with one of India’s most prominent trade exhibitions.
The fourth edition of UPITS 2026, jointly organized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML), is scheduled to take place from September 25 to 29, 2026, at the India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. Building on the success of its previous three editions, the trade show has emerged as one of the country’s most influential state-led platforms for business, exports, innovation, and global partnerships.
The New Delhi roadshow was attended by Uttar Pradesh MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Minister of State for MSME Hansraj Vishwakarma, Principal Secretary of MSME and Export Promotion Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil, Ajay Kumar from the Ministry of External Affairs, Chairman of India Exposition Mart Limited Dr. Rakesh Kumar, CEO Sudeep Sarkar, Additional Director General of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) Suvid Shah, and several prominent representatives from industry and trade associations.
Addressing the gathering, Ajay Kumar, Director General of the States Division in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), highlighted the Centre’s efforts to strengthen cooperation between Indian states and the international community. He noted that the States Division was established in 2014 under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help state governments engage more effectively with foreign governments, investors, businesses, and diplomatic missions worldwide.
Explaining the division’s role, Kumar said it serves as a vital bridge between state governments and India’s missions abroad. Through this network, states receive support in promoting trade, investment, tourism, culture, and economic partnerships internationally. The division also facilitates interactions between state governments and diplomats based in New Delhi and coordinates visits of ambassadors and foreign delegations to various states.
Ajay Kumar expressed his satisfaction at being associated with the UP International Trade Show for the second consecutive year. Recalling preparations for the previous edition, he said the Ministry of External Affairs worked closely with officials of the Uttar Pradesh Government and organized multiple virtual interactions with Indian missions overseas and international business stakeholders to enhance participation and global visibility for the event.
Describing UPITS as one of India’s most significant business exhibitions, Kumar said its scale, organization, and growing international outreach have made it a powerful platform for showcasing the strengths of Uttar Pradesh to the world. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster international business partnerships and strengthen engagement with foreign governments and global investors.
Speaking to Ten News Network, Ajay Kumar said the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show is expected to build on the remarkable success of previous editions and provide an even stronger platform for global business engagement. In today’s highly competitive environment, it is essential for states to connect with international markets and explore opportunities across the world. The Ministry of External Affairs is actively facilitating such outreach efforts, and I am confident that UPITS 2026 will emerge as a major success, he said.
Ajay Kumar also clarified reports regarding his alleged appointment as India’s next High Commissioner to Uganda, stating that the reports were the result of mistaken identity and that the position had been assigned to another officer bearing the same name. He confirmed that he would continue serving in his current role within the Ministry of External Affairs.
As preparations gather momentum, UPITS 2026 is expected to further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a leading destination for trade, investment, manufacturing, and exports. With the active support of the Ministry of External Affairs, industry stakeholders, and global business networks, the upcoming edition aims to attract wider international participation and create new opportunities for partnerships, market access, and economic growth, reinforcing the state’s emergence as a key player in India’s global economic outreach.
