Govt announces fresh dates for NEET, JEE mains

The Ministry of Human Resource Development on Friday announced the dates for medical entrance exam NEET and JEE-Mains.

The two exams were postponed in lieu of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now as per HRD ministry, Medical Entrance exam NEET is postponed to September 13 whereas the engineering examination for premier education institutions – JEE (Mains) will be conducted from September 1 to 6.

JEE-Advanced has also been postponed to September 27 in view of Covid-19, reported news agency PTI quoting HRD Ministry.

While NEET is mandatory for pursuing BDS and MBBS, students can pursue allied sciences without NEET. For engineering aspirants, there are several other exams conducted at the state level which can give students admissions to BE, BTech level courses across India. Several foreign-based colleges also have their own entrance criteria

Earlier, the nationwide parents association had written to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) asking to postpone the competitive exams. Parents had given 16 reasons to justify their demands.
