Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has planned to grant a governmental recognition to all the eligible Resident welfare Association (RAW’s) existing under the (GNIDA). This is being done so that all the residents do not have a need to go to Authority for trivial problems related to basic amenities and such can be resolved at RWA level itself.

The Greater Noida Authority has framed the guidelines in such a way that people with criminal backgrounds and also the ones who do nothing for the public welfare work can be restricted from getting posts in such associations.
While working on it Authority on Saturday uploaded a draft their official website with detailed guidelines and norms for RWA’s. It has also invited residents to register their objections, if any and provide suggestions within 30 days, starting November 23. Once it will get finalized, the authority will help in RWA formation in all residential areas for better social welfare work in residential areas.

As per the draft women have been granted 30% reservation for a greater participation of the female residents. Also a person facing any criminal charge or having a criminal background will not be the part of the association.
Monitoring and functioning of elections will be done by the CEO of the Authority or an official appointed by him. Authority however holds the power to amend any rules whenever it is required.

All the residents of Greater Noida were very happy with this decision of Authority and have welcomed it. An RWA Representative said, “This has been a continuous demand from a very long time its approval now is good news for all. Now we will have our own power and will able to tackle normal issues on our level instead of proceeding to Authority for every small big thing”.
