Gully Boy: India’s official entry to Oscars 2020, Ranveer Singh says ‘Apna Time Aayega’

New Delhi: After the announcement of selecting Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy as India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards on Saturday, actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt expressed their happiness on the social media.



The actors shared a note thanking the Film Federation of India for selecting Gully Boy as India’s offical entry to Oscars 2020 and congratulate the cast and crew of the film. The note read, “We are so thrilled that #GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. Thank you to the Film Federation of India, Aparna Sen, Supran Sen, Anindya Dasgupta, members of the jury and a big congratulations to the spectacular cast and crew.”

Sharing the note on Twitter, Ranveer wrote, “Apna Time Aayega.”

Alia shared the note along with a heart emoji on her Instagram page.

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, who played the character of MC Sher in Gully Boy’s MC Sher also revered the selection of the film for Oscars. He wrote, “Oscars!!!! Gully Se Global. Bow down @zoieakhtar. Bhaiii @ranveersingh @aliaabhatt @itsvijayvarma @ozajay @ritesh_sid @faroutakhtar and the Team! (sic)”

As soon as the news got viral about the film, congratulatory messages from the film fraternity started pouring in for the Gully Boy team. From Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan, to Hrithik Roshan, many celebrities took to Instagram to extend their best wishes. Proud mother Soni Razdan wrote, “Congratulations to the entire team of #gullyboy this is incredibly exciting news!” In another comment, she wriote, “So so so so PROUD.”

Hrithik Roshan wrote, “Amazing!”

One of the rappers who was associated with Gully Boy, Kaambhaari wrote, “Oh yesss!”

The rapper celebrated in his own unique way with a rap. He wrote, “Gully aya machaya, public ko hilaya, nukkad ka khana khilaya. Dhamaka ye laya, majboot kamaya. Ab Oscars pe aaya.”

Apart from becoming India’s official entry for Oscars, Ranveer and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy has received a number of accolades including the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, South Korea; and Best Film at the Indian Festival of Melbourne in August this year.
