Marathon raises awareness on spinal cord injuries

GURGAON: More than a 1,000 people participated in a marathon, along with some top athletes on Sunday at Tau Devi Lal stadium in Gurgaon on Sunday. Linah Chirchir from Kenya won the race and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh Among the participants at the marathon, which was held to raise awareness about spinal coArd injuries, were chess player Tania Sachdev, off-road racer C S Santosh, boulderer Tuhin Satarkar, and India`s first blade runner Major D P Singh. Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, boxers Vijender Singh and Akhil Kumar, Mamta Kharab, the captain of the Indian women`s hockey team and Param Vir Rathee, president, Haryana Olympic Association were also present.
