Haier Breaks Ground for New Air Conditioner Manufacturing Plant in Greater Noida

Greater Noida (09 March 2025): Haier, one of the largest home appliance manufacturers in India, today marked a significant milestone with the ground-breaking ceremony for its new air conditioner manufacturing plant in Greater Noida. The event, which was attended by prominent figures from both the government and Haier India, reflects the company’s commitment to its ‘Make in India’ initiative and its continued expansion in the country.

The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Manoj Kumar Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, who inaugurated the event with the traditional ribbon-cutting. Prerna Singh, CEO Greater Noida Authority, Laxmi VS, ACEO of Noida, Ravi Kumar N.G., IAS, Chief Executive Officer was also present to witness this momentous occasion.

Haier’s Vision for Growth and Innovation

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mr. Satish NS, President of Haier India, delivered a speech emphasizing the company’s remarkable growth in India. He highlighted that Haier has become one of the top three largest manufacturers in the country, thanks to its relentless focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. The company’s journey began with just three product categories, and today it has expanded to nine, demonstrating its ability to meet the diverse needs of Indian consumers.

Mr. Satish also acknowledged the pivotal role of the Uttar Pradesh government in supporting Haier’s growth. The plant is expected to provide direct employment to 3,500 people, a testament to the company’s significant contribution to the local economy. The R&D department, which represents an investment of Rs 2 crore, will play a key role in driving further innovation in line with the ‘Make in India’ vision.

He also took a moment to thank the 36,000 selling partners across the country for their unwavering support, which has contributed to Haier’s expansion and success. The company’s commitment to sustainability was evident as Mr. Satish highlighted the importance of developing environmentally friendly products, including refrigerators that will be manufactured in the range of 20,000 to 1,20,000 units.

Government Support and Industry Growth

Ravi Kumar NG, CEO of Greater Noida, also spoke at the event, acknowledging Haier’s significant achievements and the positive impact the new manufacturing plant will have on the region’s industrial landscape. He praised Haier’s focus on consumer-driven innovation and its contribution to the local community.

In his speech, Manoj Kumar Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, congratulated Haier for its investment in the region and expressed confidence that the new plant will not only boost the local economy but also contribute to the broader vision of a ‘Developed India’ as outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also praised Uttar Pradesh’s economic progress, noting the state’s remarkable growth over the past seven years. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has doubled its GDP from 12.5 crore in 2017 to 27 crore today, and the state is now emerging as a major hub for industrial and agricultural production.

Manoj Kumar Singh also spoke about Uttar Pradesh’s strength in agriculture, being a key producer of essential crops like wheat and potatoes. He emphasized that as the demand for industrial goods continues to rise, the state’s role as a leading economic powerhouse will only grow stronger.

Mr. Singh further highlighted the global trend toward sustainability, particularly in the context of refrigeration. He appreciated Haier’s efforts to develop energy-efficient products that reduce environmental impact, aligning with global goals for reducing carbon emissions. Mr. Huang, Managing Director of Haier India, concluded the ceremony by thanking all the guests for their presence and support.
