New Delhi, June 30, 2022: On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts organized its 23rd Handicrafts Export Awards. The awards honor the exporters who have made significant contributions to the country’s development and exports of handicrafts.

Newage Leathers was one amongst those exporters who were awarded. They are manufacturers of leather wallets, bags, belts, jackets, and accessories. Ishan Malhotra from Newage Leathers spoke with Ten News Network regarding this achievement. “This is a very good achievement for our company. This is the second successive award that we have won for the merit of leather handicrafts, in our field. And we dedicate this award to all our suppliers, customers, vendors, and most importantly our Newage family, who is dedicatedly doing hard work everyday for the betterment of the company.”

“Handicrafts is very diversified right now,” Mr. Malhotra said regarding the opportunities and challenges in the handicrafts industry. “And because of that within the past 2-3 years we have diversified our range as well because of the changing times. Earlier we used to do only two product lines, now we are doing five product lines,” he said. “So you have to be competitive,” he said.

“Without EPCH support we cannot do much of our work,” he said. “The reason is, we are doing a lot of work but we are getting new customers with participation in fairs and that is only helpful with government subsidies, which are approved by the approved agencies of the government, so that is where EPCH and other agencies come into play.”

“Hard work is the only success mantra,” he said. “You have to be at right place at the right time to grab the correct opportunity, and rest hard work and little bit of luck will help you to succeed.”
