Delhi, August 19th, 2022: Addressing the Har Ghar Jal Utsav event virtually in Goa, PM Modi asserted that seven crore families in the country have been provided with piped water connections in the past three years.

Organized by the Goa government, the program marked the 100 percent piped water supply coverage in the state. Under the Jal Jeevan mission, his government has achieved the milestone of 10 crore such connections in villages so far.

“In the seven decades since Independence, only three crore rural households had piped water. But in the last three years, since the announcement of this mission, our government has connected seven crore additional rural households through tap water”, he remarked.

Launching a veiled attack on the opposition while addressing the event, PM Modi called for a long-term approach toward nation-building, saying those who are not concerned about the country only talk big but there are no actions from their side.

“People who do not care about the country are not bothered about the present and future of the country as well. Such people will make big promises for water but will never work for it with a bigger vision”, he said.

Referring to the criticism received for his “revri” culture remarks last month, the Prime Minister said that it doesn’t take much effort to form a government but it takes a lot of hard work to build a nation and that is what BJP is doing.

Lastly, talking about the mission to provide every home with a piped water supply, Modi said that the achievement of the 10 crore milestone reflects the Centre’s commitment toward the provision of water and preservation of the environment.
