Mumbai, Sept 23rd, 2022: In one of the biggest drug busts in recent times, heroin valued at over Rs1,725 crores was seized at the Nhava Sheva Port of Mumbai by a team of Delhi Police on Wednesday.

Approximately 22 tones of licorice were coated with heroin, according to the officials.
Licorice is a herb that grows in parts of Europe and Asia.

According to the Special Cell of the police, which conducted the operation, this was one of the biggest seizures of heroin.

“This seizure indicates how narco-terror is impacting our country and international players are using different methodologies to push drugs into our country,” said HGS Dhaliwal, Special CP.

The massive drug haul comes exactly a year after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), in September 2021, made the largest narcotics contraband seizure in the country, weighing 3,000 kg worth Rs 21,000 crore at Mundra port in Gujarat.
