Home Decor companies share demand outlook, concerns at HGH India fair | India Expo Mart
Greater Noida, 13th June: HGH India, a popular trade show showcasing products of houseware, home decor, home textiles and more is back with its 11th edition this year. An event of key interest for those having fascination about home decor, it is being organised at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida from July 12-July 15.
One the first day, Ten News team interacted with few of the exhibitors at HGH India. This interaction was really insightful in gauging the opportunity, challenges and trends facing the Home Decor industry, through the eyes of those so intrinsically connected to it.
The Expo had a variety of products on display. From chair covers to premium resin furniture to custom made products to series of dustbins including sensor ones.
The scenario regarding demand in the Home Decor industry in the domestic market invited different opinions. While Kalpesh Jain, Managing Director of Cortina Eyelet Curtain, felt that inflation in other countries did affect the export of their products, demand in India was resilient and prospects look rosy with no problem brewing in the coming one year at least. Additionally, any new innovation receives a good response in the Indian market.
On the other hand, Rajiv Nair, General Manager of Supreme furnitures believed that inflation did have an adverse impact on the Home Decor industry with problems rising in procuring raw material as well as higher cost of logistical services. He said that price hike and inflation has motivated people to secure themselves and wait for the festivals for spending, this has ultimately resulted in a reduced footfall.
With regards to challenges facing the industry, innovation and keeping up with the changing trends is the key to success as per Rahul Khandelwal, the Head of Business Development.
Vishwas Kohli, the Vice President of Business Development of Kaleen India viewed the pandemic as a major challenge for the industry. Undoubtedly, the pandemic has affected almost every industry and made predicting trends harder but to excel and tide over any crisis, he believes the predictors and designers need to think outside the box. He also flagged his concern about the adverse impact of the Russia- Ukraine War on the Home decor industry.
After last year’s success, the exhibitors have placed high hopes on this year’s Expo too. With innovative product range and enterprising zeal of exhibitors, the Expo is definitely an event to look out for this year.
