IGNITION 2026 TechFest Inaugurated at Gautam Buddha University

Greater Noida News (08/04/2026): The School of Information and Communication Technology (SOICT) at Gautam Buddha University formally inaugurated its annual TechFest IGNITION 2026 on Monday with great enthusiasm, bringing together students, academicians and industry experts on a common platform dedicated to innovation and technology.
Organised around the theme “Sparkling Innovation, Fueling Tomorrow,” the festival aims to encourage creativity, technological exploration and entrepreneurial thinking among students. The event has emerged as a vibrant forum where young innovators can showcase their ideas, interact with industry leaders and explore the latest developments in technology.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests from academia and industry. The Chief Guest, Manoj Kumar, Director – Innovation & Partnerships at STMicroelectronics, highlighted the growing importance of innovation-driven education and collaboration between academia and industry.
The event also witnessed the presence of Guests of Honour including Atul Bhargava, Independent Director at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, and Gunjan Singh from IBM. In their addresses, they encouraged students to embrace innovation, think creatively and develop technological solutions that can contribute to society and industry.

The ceremony was presided over by Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University. In his keynote remarks, he stressed the importance of nurturing a strong culture of research, innovation and technological advancement within academic institutions. He also motivated students to pursue excellence and use their knowledge to build a progressive and technology-driven future.
The event was further graced by the presence of Rajeev Varshney, Dean Academics, and Arpit Bhardwaj, Dean of SOICT, whose academic leadership and guidance played an important role in the successful organisation of the fest.
The seamless coordination of the inauguration ceremony was ensured through the dedicated efforts of faculty coordinators Dr. Vidushi Sharma, Dr. Vimlesh and Dr. Priyanka Goyal, who worked closely with students and the organising team.
IGNITION 2026 continues to serve as an engaging platform for students to present innovative ideas, experiment with emerging technologies and collaborate with peers and industry professionals. Through a series of technical events, discussions and activities, the TechFest reflects the university’s commitment to promoting innovation and preparing students for the challenges of the future.
