Greater Noida News (15/10/2026): Students from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur, explored emerging design trends, sustainable materials and India’s rich handicraft heritage during their visit to the 62nd IHGF Delhi Fair 2026, organised by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.
During an interaction with Ten News Network, NIFT Jodhpur students Shraddha Pandya, Bhavya Khanna and Savya Tare shared their experiences and key takeaways from the exhibition, highlighting innovative designs, jewellery, bags, home décor products and the growing importance of sustainability in the design industry.
Bhavya Khanna, a student of the Accessories Department, expressed particular interest in the jewellery and bags showcased at the fair. She appreciated the innovative use of materials and the growing adoption of sustainable alternatives. Emphasising the need for continuous learning, she said that designers must keep exploring new ideas and stay updated with emerging designs, materials and technologies to remain relevant in an evolving industry.
Shraddha Pandya appreciated the creative presentation and layout of the exhibition stalls, noting that each stall conveyed a distinct story through its design and visual appeal. She identified sustainability as an important emerging trend and highlighted how simple, elegant designs can transform a space. Both Shraddha Pandya and Bhavya Khanna rated their experience at the fair 10 out of 10.
Savya Tare, who has a keen interest in accessories and home décor, was impressed by the colour combinations, textures, contemporary trends and innovative forms displayed at the exhibition. She also appreciated the wide variety of interior décor and furniture designs, describing the fair as an enriching experience and awarding it a rating of 10 out of 10.

Sustainability and Innovation Take Centre Stage
Sharing their key learnings from the visit, the students emphasised that sustainability should be an integral part of the design process rather than merely a passing trend. They also highlighted the importance of experimentation, creative thinking and continuous learning to keep pace with changing consumer preferences and industry developments.
The interaction also brought attention to the need for greater recognition of India’s traditional art forms and cultural identity in contemporary design. A key observation was that designers and industry stakeholders should look beyond Western and European influences and give greater importance to India’s indigenous craftsmanship, handlooms and handicrafts.
Preserving India’s Craft Heritage Through Modern Design
The discussion underscored the importance of preserving India’s rich craft heritage while adapting traditional art forms to contemporary design sensibilities. Integrating indigenous craftsmanship with meaningful innovation can help designers develop distinctive products, create new opportunities for artisans and strengthen the global recognition of Indian handicrafts.
The students described the IHGF Delhi Fair 2026 as a valuable learning platform for aspiring designers, providing exposure to diverse materials, traditional craftsmanship, sustainable practices and emerging design innovations.
Their experience highlighted how platforms such as IHGF can bridge the gap between India’s traditional craft heritage and modern design thinking, encouraging the next generation of designers to create innovative products while preserving the country’s cultural identity.
