New Delhi, 04/10/2019: Hundreds of IIT students / aspirants raised their voices against the recent hike in the fee structures in IIT. They performed an energetic protest against decision of increasing fees of M.Tech program in IlTs.

They were all up with 5 major demands and issues, that they are facing due to sudden and huge increment in the fees.

Let’s get you updated about those 5 demands of IIT students / aspirants.

1. Revocation of fees hike!

It is pretty obvious that government is facing problems due to students dropping out but if someone leaves course for a higher salary package or placement in PSU he/she is not going to stop even if you increase fees. Students lack clarity regarding their future due to job crisis in country and always like to have a backup option. At the same time such hike will be an excess burden on serious students which count to 50% of total admitted students, which surely is a large number and government cannot be ignorant towards those who want to pursue their career through M Tech.

2. Restarting stipend for students!

B.E/B.Tech in our country is already a costly affair and most students complete graduation depending on students’ loans which are a burden on them and their family.
By stopping there stipend, government is putting more burden on such students which earlier used to endure their expenses using this money and helred them to pay back their loans already taken by them.

3. Making M Tech coure industry/market ready!

There seems to be a hurry to increase fees but there is lack of clarity on enhancing the degraded quality of courses. Most of the non-sponsored courses are outdated and not getting placement opportunities.

4. Common policy for all students and clarity on concessions!

There are policies which define how scholarships are given in these institutes but after their decision of fees hike, there is a sense of doubt amongst students and a clarity on this is required as well. Also scholarships for SC/ST/OBC will be continued as per councils recommendation, but such hike will be a huge discouragement to general category students who put equal efforts.

5 Change in admission process!

Biggest problem in this whole process is actually admission process, after GATE exam IITs put forward their merit list and calls for admissions.

At almost same time, most PSUs start their procurement program, PSU interview goes on even after admission process of IITs are over.

Due to this lack in coordination among these two government bodies.

These students are seeking justice and are urging government to look into this matter from students’ perspective as well.
