IMA HSG Dr Jayesh Lele files police complaint against Yog guru Ramdev

Dr Jayesh Lele, Honorary Secretary General of Indian Medical Association has filed a police complaint at Delhi IP estate police station against Yog guru Ramdev for his alleged remarks that have hurt the sentiments of the medical community.

In his complaint, filed on behalf of the Indian Medical Association, Dr Lele has said that Ramdev styled coronil as a ‘cure’ for Covid, thus misleading gullible common man in India.

He also shared the excerpts of videos of Yog guru Ramdev and stated that in “order to take the advantage of Covid-19 situation in the country, he has put forth “dishonest and wrongful representation with regard to allopathic medicine and other allied treatment techniques of modern medical science.”

Referring to two malicious statements made by the Yoga guru, he further added that the accused has committed cognizable offences and are liable to be prosecuted under all applicable and relevant provisions of law including section 3 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, read with section 54 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

He has demanded a thorough police investigation in the case to unearth the identity of the other person who are involved with “Swami Ramdev in the aforesaid conspiracy of making scurrilous and malicious statements in public and obtaining unjust gains from the promotion of unproved and unapproved treatment methods.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, IMA uttarakhand had served a 1000 crore defamation notice to Yog Guru Ramdev for his alleged statements against allopathy and its practitioners.
