Ghaziabad/New Delhi, September 18, 2015:- With a proactive approach to addressthe insights of FMCG industry and connect student withindustry experts,IMT Ghaziabad -India’s premier B-School organized a unique FMCG symposium on ‘Possibility Thinking’ with Sunil Kataria, Business Head- India and SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL). Mr. Sunil an alumnus of IMT shared his experience with the students and provided a deep insight of FMCG business in India and SAARC countries.

Aimed to connect today’s industry leaders with tomorrow’s leaders, the symposium featured a high-level exchange of ideas and information by Mr. Sunil Kataria. Delivering an interactive sessionon thepower of the underdog and disruptive innovationMr. Sunil enlightened students on how things do not come easy in life and they constantly needs to work hard their way up.He said, “I am a firm believer of possibility thinking. The whole idea behind the thought is that we should never be bogged down by difficulties in life thinking that we are not able to get the most appropriate solution but should try to explore the other possibilities and come up with a solution.”

Elaborating on the theme of the symposium, which was ‘FMCG-Knowledge Connect’, Mr. Sunil talked about the business and working culture of his organization, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL). He shared his experience as business head of India and SAARC and talked about how innovation is in the DNA of GCPL and how it is necessarily important to survive in fiercely competitive FMCG industry. He said, “We follow a HOW-WOW-NOW’ principle in GCPL where HOW refers to Possibility Thinking, WOW refers to giving excellence and NOW signifies 100% accountability to the organization.

 SAARC countries are similar in quite a few ways but they also have certain distinctions. While Bangladesh is very similar to India in terms of framing product development strategies, Sri Lanka responsesquite differently in that case. This is a type of cross-pollination strategy where the company also makes sure to incorporate the varying local needs and the business environment,” he added.

An alumnus of IMT, Mr. Sunil Kataria recalled the fond memories of his tenure at the B-school. He told the students how IMT provided a platform to carry forward things in his life and helped him build a pioneering career. He expressed his happiness on IMT having a new world-class infrastructure and a huge collection of books, journals and research papers.
