In Gautam Buddh Nagar, sky-high ambulance rates add to people’s misery
Noida, 21st April: Amid shortage and surge in demand for ambulances, the private ambulance drivers in Gautam Buddh Nagar have begin charging an outrageous amount, equivalent to the fee of an ICU bed at a private hospital.
A news outlet reported that relatives of several Covid patients are being charged upto Rs. 14,000 to head to the nearest crematorium, even if it’s just a few miles away.
The ambulance drivers are also charging a hefty amount for waiting outside crematorium’s.
Speaking to a news outlet, one man claimed that he was asked to pay Rs. 500 per hour by a driver for waiting outside a crematorium.
This has added to the misery of Covid patients and their relatives who have alredy been suffering due to shortage of Covid beds, oxygen and Covid drugs in the district.
On Tuesday, 630 new Covid cases were recorded in the district along with 8 deaths.
