In her own village, few willing to stand by Mayawati
Mayawati canvassed for votes in the National Capital Region on Saturday, calling herself the “daughter of the region”. But the village she cited to invoke that kinship — Badalpur, her birthplace in Gautam Budh Nagar district — didn’t seem too eager to display such filial affection. The village, a short distance from Noida Extension and close to National Highway 91, is still sore about the acquisition of 230 hectares of what they call “fertile land” that took place when the BSP boss was chief minister.
