New Delhi, Sep 03, 2023: In an interview with PTI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out his vision for India, expressing his commitment to transforming the nation into a developed country by the time it commemorates its 100th year of independence in 2047.
He declared that this future India would have no tolerance for corruption, casteism, or communalism, stating, “India will be a developed nation by 2047; corruption, casteism and communalism will have no place in our national life.”
PM Modi emphasized India’s pivotal role on the global stage, where the world looks to the nation for guidance. He asserted, “Our words and vision are seen by the world as a roadmap for the future and not merely ideas.” He highlighted the shift from a GDP-centric view to a human-centric one, with India serving as a catalyst for this transformation.
The Prime Minister pointed out the remarkable evolution in how India is perceived, shifting from being viewed solely as a nation with one billion hungry stomachs to one with “one billion aspirational minds and two billion skilled hands.”
He underscored the demographic advantage of India’s vast population, envisioning a substantial demographic dividend in the coming decades. PM Modi urged Indians to seize the opportunity, declaring, “Indians today have a great chance to lay the foundation for growth that will be remembered for the next 1,000 years.”
While addressing concerns about financial policies and populism, he cautioned against the consequences of “irresponsible financial policies and populism,” stating that while they may yield short-term political gains, they exact a significant social and economic price in the long run.
On the matter of India’s stance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM Modi reiterated the nation’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the primary means of conflict resolution, emphasizing that this approach aligns with India’s principled stand.
He defended India’s procurement of fuel from Russia despite sanctions, echoing External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar’s assertion that every country seeks the best deals for its citizens.
