India Expo Mart Chairman Rakesh Kumar talks of Greater Noida’s growth story, shares vision for a brighter future

Greater Noida, January 30: It was the 31st Foundation Day of Greater Noida on Friday. In these 31 years, Greater Noida has emerged as an industrial hub and one organization that has played a pivotal role in this and in bringing Greater Noida on the world map is India Expo Mart.

India Expo Mart is a major landscape of this city that hosts international exhibitions such as Auto Expo, IHGF Delhi Fair and enables industries to generate business worth thousands of crores.

On the 31st Foundation Day of Greater Noida, Ten News Network had a conversation with the Chairman of India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML) and the Director-General of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), Dr. Rakesh Kumar.

While congratulating Greater Noida residents and administration on completing this journey, Dr. Rakesh Kumar said it indeed was a pleasant & memorable journey.

“We got associated with Greater Noida way back in 2001. In these 20 years we have seen various development phases of the entire city. When we came for the first first time in the city that time even the expressway was not there, it was being constructed, and good thing is that whatever was planned has been executed. So from concept to commissioning, everything has happened very well and that’s why Greater Noida is now considered as the Dream City,” he said.

Outlining the overall development of the city, Dr. Kumar added, “I feel Greater Noida is a place to live, a place to work, a place to educate your children & to set up an Industry. This is a rare combination and it has brought Greater Noida many laurels. No wonder it is considered as one of the best industrial cities in the country.”

Dr. Kumar further talked about India Expo Centre and Mart, which had been a constant companion of Greater Noida’s growth story.

“We started our journey in 2001 and by 2003 we started the construction work of Expo Mart in Greater Noida and by 2006 we completed the first & second phases of it. This Expo Mart is considered as one of the largest South-East Asia’s exhibition centre as well as mart area. Handicraft gift, carpet, handloom, lifestyle, textile all these people are present here in the mart area and similarly in the exhibition area, well-known exhibitions take place like Auto Expo, ELECRAMA, Pharma, CPHI and many more.

Out of the ten largest exhibitions in India, seven exhibitions are held at India Expo Centre & Mart & so we feel proud that this place can accommodate people very well over here.”

Dr. Kumar also lauded the state government for excellent law and order. “This is a city where the law & order is excellent & I salute the UP government & also the police administration for keeping their citizens safe & secure. Moreover, the constant visits of UP CM aided the growth of this area. Now Jewar Airport is going to be one of the USP of the entire area & by its inclusion this area is going to have a lot of new developments.”

However, as development is a constant, continuous thing, there are aspects that still need to be addressed.

“We have a very nice sports complex but I think the way people will start coming here when within city roads need to be further widened. Traffic congestion should not come in future particularly access and exit from the expressway is to be taken care in the city, particularly Knowledge park. We also need to develop parking slots.”

Further, he praised the officials of the Greater Noida industrial development Authority, including CEO, Greater Noida Authority Narendra Bhooshan, Commissioner of police Alok Singh, Additional commissioner Luv Kumar & also even on the political side Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament & the MLAs of the Greater Noida, Jewar & other areas adding that they are really adding value to the entire city not only by suggestions but also doing a lot of hard work for the development of this area

He also outlined that the district has an Excellent district magistrate in Suhas LY who has a lot of fame and name in the international arena as a sportsperson.

Concluding with a dream and hope for the City, he said, “I feel Greater Noida is going to be one of the well known & best city in the entire country and we are going to bring a lot of laurels for Its people and for the county and I wish a great and even more successful future for Greater Noida as a world class city.”
