Greater Noida, September 6, 2026: The future of education, the growing contribution of private universities, public-private partnerships in research and the long-term development of Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park emerged as key issues at the Bharat Shiksha Expo Initiative – Senior Educationists’ Round-Table, held on the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2026.

Organised by India Expo Mart & Centre in association with TEN NEWS NETWORK, the high-level dialogue was held on the theme “Teachers as Catalysts for a Developed India” and brought together senior educationists and institutional leaders to deliberate on the future of India’s education and knowledge ecosystem.

Knowledge Park’s Growing Global Identity

Welcoming the senior educationists, Sudeep Sarcar, ED & CEO, India Expo Mart Ltd., highlighted the transformation of Greater Noida and the emergence of Knowledge Park as a major centre for education, research, business and intellectual activity.

Sarcar said that during his domestic and international travels, he often introduces himself as being from “Knowledge Park” rather than simply Greater Noida, as the name has developed a strong association with knowledge, education, research and intellectual capability.

He emphasised that India Expo Centre & Mart is not merely a trade destination, but has evolved into a multidimensional ecosystem connecting trade, business, education and knowledge.

16 Years of Growth and the Challenge Ahead

Reflecting on his 16-year association with the ecosystem, Sarcar said several trade shows, intellectual platforms and knowledge-driven events have grown substantially in scale. Some have become so large that organisers now need to extend programmes across multiple days, divide them by categories or use additional venues in the surrounding region.

While this growth is encouraging, he said it also raises an important question: How can Knowledge Park sustain its leadership and continue to grow over the next 25 years?

Sarcar called for a long-term vision for Greater Noida and Bharat Shiksha, stressing the importance of creating a meaningful legacy for the next generation.

Public-Private Partnership in Research

Sarcar also raised important questions about the growing role of private organisations in research and strategic sectors.

Referring to a newspaper report concerning outsourcing in the space sector, he invited educationists to deliberate on the appropriate balance between public-sector research, private participation, domestic outsourcing and overseas outsourcing.

He stressed that India must strengthen its research capabilities while benefiting from private-sector innovation, expertise and scale.

Senior Educationists Join the Deliberations

The Round-Table was presided over by Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Pro-Chancellor, IILM University, Greater Noida, and attended by distinguished senior educationists and institutional leaders from leading universities, colleges and schools.

Those participating included Dr. K. Mallikharjuna Babu, Galgotias University; Prof. Sibaram Khara, Sharda University, Greater Noida; Brig. Dr. Rakesh Gupta, GIMS, Greater Noida; Ms. Kanchan Kumari, Delhi World Public School, Knowledge Park; Dr. R. S. Rai, Bennett University; Dr. Pankaj Gupta, O.P. Jindal Global University, Hisar; Dr. H. R. Mahadevaswamy, JSS University, Noida; Dr. Ruby Mishra, Bhagini Nivedita College, University of Delhi; Dr. Abhilasha Gautam, Army Institute of Education; and Sr. Rekha Punia, Ursuline Convent Senior Secondary School, among others.

The participation of senior academic leaders provided a diverse perspective on the role of teachers, higher education, research, innovation and public-private collaboration in advancing India’s development agenda.

Growth to Legacy

The deliberations highlighted the need to move beyond infrastructure-led growth towards knowledge creation, innovation, research and global intellectual leadership.

Sarcar said the larger ambition should not simply be to make Knowledge Park bigger, but to make it more influential, innovative and valuable to India’s knowledge economy.

The Bharat Shiksha initiative aims to provide a platform for continued dialogue among educationists, institutions, policymakers and industry stakeholders on how India’s education ecosystem can contribute to the vision of a developed India.

As Greater Noida enters the next phase of its development, the central challenge is not merely to preserve the achievements of the past 25 years, but to create an ecosystem capable of shaping the next 25 years of India’s education, research and knowledge economy.
