He stressed that greater collaboration among these institutions could significantly enhance their collective impact on education, research and skill development.

Addressing the theme “Teachers as Catalysts for a Developed India,” Dr. Gupta emphasized that teachers must continuously evolve with changing times. He noted that the present generation of students is increasingly dependent on technology and artificial intelligence, which, if not balanced with practical learning, could affect their conceptual understanding and skills.
“Teachers must evolve to prepare students for a developed India,” Dr. Gupta said, stressing that education should go beyond awarding degrees and focus on developing knowledge, practical skills and industry-ready professionals.
Reflecting on his own experience as a teacher, Dr. Gupta said effective teaching requires extensive preparation, dedication and commitment. He recalled that teachers in the past would spend several hours preparing for a single class and relied extensively on blackboard teaching to ensure that students understood concepts thoroughly.
He urged Vice Chancellors and Directors to motivate faculty members and provide them with opportunities for continuous professional development through structured faculty development programmes.
Healthcare Integral to the Vision of a Developed India
Dr. Gupta also highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare as a critical component of the vision of a developed India. He said development should not be measured solely by economic growth, but also by improvements in life expectancy, healthcare standards and overall quality of life.
Highlighting the growing burden of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cancer, he called for greater emphasis on preventive healthcare, geriatric care and improved health awareness.
He further underlined the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among universities and institutions across fields such as medicine, engineering and management.
Dr. Gupta said GIMS is open to collaborating with non-medical institutions in areas including research, skill development, healthcare education and professional training.

He highlighted GIMS’s Vidya Setu, a skill education and training initiative through which students from other institutions can access skill-based learning and training opportunities.
GIMS Offers Collaboration in Research, Healthcare Training
Dr. Gupta also invited universities and educational institutions to collaborate with GIMS on research, digital literacy, healthcare-related courses and practical training programmes. He said GIMS can provide hands-on training in first aid and Basic Life Support (BLS), noting that awareness and knowledge of basic life-support techniques remain limited among large sections of the population.
According to Dr. Gupta, expanding such training programmes across educational institutions could help create a more health-aware, skilled and prepared society.
He stressed that stronger collaboration between educational institutions, healthcare organisations and industry can play an important role in developing skilled human resources and strengthening India’s knowledge ecosystem.
The discussions at the Senior Educationists’ Round-Table highlighted the need for an education system that combines technology with human mentorship, academic knowledge with practical skills, and institutional excellence with interdisciplinary collaboration—all of which are essential to achieving the broader vision of a developed India.
