India joins, US, China and Russia in registering itself a space power: PM Modi

New Delhi: PM Modi today’s wihile addressing to the nation said that,
India has destroyed one live satellite in low earth orbit (LEO) over 300 km into the space, using a space missile technology. India has achieved super power status in space after US, Russia and China.


“India has entered the super league as an elite space power. An anti-satellite weapon A-SAT, successfully targeted a live satellite on a low earth orbit satellite (LEO) in mission Shakti.It was a difficult mission and was done in three minutes,” he said.

PM Modi further said, “Up till now, only US, China and Russia have done this. Now India is the fourth country. ‘Mission Shakti’ is an important step towards securing India’s safety, economic growth and technological advancement.”

“We want to create an atmosphere of peace not war. This space programme is meant to ensure India’s security and growth. We must be ready for the challenges of the future. I want to tell the world that this new capability that we have acquired will not be used against anyone. This is purely for India’s securit,” Modi Said.

“Today, we have enough satellites that are contributing in various segments such as agriculture, disaster management, communication, weather, navigation etc,
We salute and honour the scientists and all the members associated with Mission Shakti for this extra ordinary achievement.” added PM Modi.
