New Delhi, June 30, 2022: On Tuesday, the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts organized its 23rd Handicrafts Export Awards. The awards honor the exporters who have made significant contributions to the country’s development and exports of handicrafts.

Ramayana Handicrafts was one amongst those exporters who were awarded. The company has been in the business for more than three decades. They specialize in fashion jewelry.

“We feel very proud and very excited,” Owner Swati Gupta said regarding the award. “We have won these awards many times before also and every time, it’s a team effort,” she said. “The entire team of Ramayana and all the artisans who are working for us, they create such beautiful jewelry.”

“Opportunities are unlimited,” Ms. Gupta said regarding the opportunities for the handicraft industry. “Because even now I think India has not reached every country. When we talk about fashion jewelry or accessories division, almost every country has its own brands. India is primarily only in a few countries, so the rest of the countries do not know about India, so there are a lot of opportunities,” she said. “The challenge is definitely how to reach there. Going to some of the markets is easier but breaking through some markets is tougher,” she said regarding the challenges in the industry.

“The EPCH support has been there,” Ms. Gupta said. “They provide connections not just between different clients but between exporters also. So, we also learn from each other. They provide a very good platform where we can contact different buyers, and through the fairs, we get a lot of connections.”

“I think the success mantra, whether you are an exporter or not remains the same,” she said. “Lot of hard work, lot of passion for what you are doing and taking the entire team and everybody along.”
