New Delhi, June 30, 2022: On Tuesday, the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts organized its 23rd Handicrafts Export Awards. The awards honor the exporters who have made significant contributions to the country’s development and exports of handicrafts.

Heirloom Naga was awarded that evening for soft furnishing. It is a North-Eastern handicraft company. The company works only with women and makes exclusive soft furnishings for homes.

“I am completely overwhelmed to be here this evening, it’s an incredible honor to be in the midst of so many successful exporters from the rest of the country,” said the Heirloom Naga entrepreneur.

“It validates the hard work and skills of our artisans. But beyond that, it validates the proactive, persistent, and consistent role that EPCH has played in the North-East region,” she said. “EPCH has paved the way for entrepreneurs like me to become first-generation exporters which at one point in time seemed completely impossible. For the last two decades, EPCH has been not only hand-holding and nurturing but has been lending continuous support to all the entrepreneurs and artisans from the north-east.”

“Opportunities are many, with the kind of platforms EPCH is providing us with, I don’t think it is too difficult for us to stay connected to the market. However, I feel that slowly a lot of artisans are moving away from this sector, and therefore I feel that the need of the hour is to bring back all our artisans to where they belong, instilling in them a sense of dignity and pride in their labor and also by going all out by providing skilling and training program to them so that everyone remains gainfully employed,” she said regarding the challenges and opportunities in the handicrafts industry.
