Delhi, Sept 13th, 2022: Beginning on December 1, 2022, India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year, which will continue till November 30, 2023, announced the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday.

Under its Presidency, India is expected to host over 200 G20 meetings across the country. An exercise is already underway to identify suitable venues in places ranging from Tamil Nadu to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for hosting these meetings.

G20 or the Group of Twenty is an inter-governmental group of 19 countries and the European Union. It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

India will also invite the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, and Asian Development Bank as guest international organizations.

Collectively, the G20 accounts for 85% of the global GDP, 75% of international trade, and two-thirds of the world population, making it the premier forum for international economic cooperation.
