New Delhi: A film on a topic which is considered taboo in our country won Oscar, the documentary won in short subject category at the 91st Academy award.
Guneet monga, producer of the film and Rajya Zehtabchi, director were astonished when her film Period.End of Sentence grabbed the most prominent award “Oscar”.
The short film was shot in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur and is based on a topic of the deep stigma associated with menstruation and delieving upon the work of real life padman Arunachalam Muruganantham.
Tweeting about the film guneet monga set in a tweet, ” We WON!! To every girl on this earth ….. know that you are a goddess… if heavens are listening look MA we put @sikhya on the map”
Apart from receiving Oscar, the film has received several other awards at various film festivals.
Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal also congratulated Guneet Monga for the success of her short film.
