India’s first 5G connected Ambulance service launched in Kolkata

Kolkata, 03rd June 2023: Marking a first in India, ambulances with 5G network will be working to transform the delivery of emergency care, where the treatment of a patient will begin in the ambulance itself.

The ambulances would have specialised capabilities to provide critical care even when the patient is en route, and is claimed to be technology that will transform access to healthcare and save lives in emergency situations.

The Kolkata branch of Apollo Hospitals unveiled the service in the city today and assured that they plan to extend the same to other cities as well. The Ambulance is equipped with the latest medical equipment, patient monitoring applications, and telemetry devices that transmit the patient’s health data to the hospital with low latency.

It also comes with onboard cameras connected to the 5G network. the 5G-connected Ambulance acts as an extension of the emergency room in a hospital that enables starting of treatment early in what is called the golden hour.
