IndiGo Secures Partnership as Inaugural Carrier for Noida Airport, Promising Enhanced Connectivity and Innovation

Noida International Airport (NIA) achieved a significant milestone on Friday as it inked a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IndiGo airlines, solidifying the carrier’s status as the inaugural airline to commence operations from the upcoming airport.

This collaborative endeavor is poised to usher in a new era of aviation excellence, with both NIA and IndiGo committing to exploring avant-garde ideas aimed at optimizing operational efficiency and elevating the overall customer experience, as outlined in the official statement from Noida International Airport.

Situated in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district in western Uttar Pradesh, approximately 75 kilometers from Delhi, the greenfield airport is set to become the second international and the third commercial airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) upon its operational commencement in 2024.

Christoph Schnellmann, the Chief Executive Officer of Noida International Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with IndiGo, highlighting the airline’s robust presence in both domestic and international markets. Schnellmann emphasized that the collaboration would not only strengthen air connectivity but also foster innovation, ensuring an unparalleled customer experience.

“By leveraging IndiGo’s extensive route network and expertise, we aim to provide our passengers with unparalleled connectivity and an exceptional travel experience,” added Schnellmann.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, conveyed his excitement about the collaboration, declaring the airline’s thrill at being chosen as the launch carrier for NIA. Elbers, recognizing IndiGo as India’s leading airline, underscored the carrier’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and serving as a catalyst for the region’s economic and social development.

“As India’s leading airline, IndiGo has always been at the forefront of enhancing connectivity and giving wings to the nation. Our operations at NIA will provide the people of Uttar Pradesh with seamless connectivity across our unparalleled network,” said Elbers.

Anticipating the inauguration of the new airport in 2024, Elbers assured continued collaboration with NIA management to explore innovative approaches for delivering an affordable, on-time, and hassle-free travel experience across the 6E network.

The MoU between Noida International Airport and IndiGo marks a significant step towards the realization of a world-class aviation hub, with the promise of cutting-edge services and enhanced connectivity for the benefit of passengers in the National Capital Region and beyond.
