Israel Elections: Exit polls point at return of Benjamin Netanyahu
Nov 2, 2022: Former Israeli PM Netanyahu is being predicted as favourite to win in Tuesday’s elections, according to exit polls.
After 12 straight years in power, Netanyahu was toppled last year by Yair Lapid.
Netanyahu remains one of Israel’s most controversial political figures.
He is against the creation of Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. He is also on trial for charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.
As per Israel TV exit polls, Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc will command a slim majority of 61 or 62 seats in the 120-seat parliament. “We have won a huge vote of confidence from the people of Israel. We are close to a big victory,” Netanyahu told his supporters in Jerusalem.
