ITPO organising National and International exhibitions amidst debris, dust and traffic chaos at Pragati Maidan

New Delhi (12/12/2019) Fair & Expo at Pragati Maidan amidst massive construction work troubling commuters, visitors and exhibitors equally . Amidst traffic jams, pollution and inconvenience to commuters, ignoring all this NBCC is continuing construction work for building a world-class convention-cum-exhibition centre at the site of the Pragati Maidan.
Prgati Maidan hosting a mega expo which is witnessing a huge footfall causing a massive traffic jam on all sides of Pragati Maidan especially on Ring Road. For now construction on of 1.2 km Underground Tunnel at Pragati Maidan is going on.
Now the question arises here is that why the exhibition and expo can’t be postponed or stopped in the venue so that commuters and stake holders don’t have to face problems. Over the issue when Ten News tried to take version of India Trade Promotion Organisation, Director L. C. Goyal remained unavailable.
Earlier ban on construction activities at the site was also imposed due to Delhi’s pollution levels. Later the work at the site resumed again. PMO intervention has also come in wake of complaints by the suffering people. As a matter of fact, actual date of completion of the project is March 31st 2020.
As per the Delhi traffic Police and PWD officials, on an average commuters spend around 30-40 minutes on this route to reach their final destination.
Under the redevelopment plan of Pragati Maidan a total of 3,26,065 sq m of built-up area including 1,19,445 sq m of exhibition space, a convention centre with seating capacity of 7,000 people with a number of different-sized meeting rooms, space for public circulation in phase-I is planned .
