ITS College of Pharmacy organizes Expert Talk on Artificial Intelligence

I.T.S College of Pharmacy organized an Expert Talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pharmacy on 20th March, 2026 to provide insight into the rapidly expanding role of AI across various domains of healthcare, drug development, and pharmaceutical industry operations. On this occasion, Mr. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S – The Education Group, emphasized that now a days AI is revolutionizing the way we approach pharmacy practice and research from drug discovery and formulation development to personalized medicine and clinical decision-making. He also conveyed that such expert sessions play a vital role in providing our students and faculty with valuable insights into how innovative technologies like AI can enhance efficiency, accuracy, and patient outcomes.

Dr. S Sadish Kumar, Director, welcomed the faculty members and students to the Expert Talk for Value Added Course-Module I. On this occasion, he introduced Dr. Varun Singh, and thanked him for his session on Artificial Intelligence, which is a part of Value Added Course on AI in Pharmacy (Module-I).

Dr. Varun Singh, Scientist-III, Government Medical Device Testing Officer, Biosafety Office, National Institute of Biologicals, Noida started the session with an engaging and insightful interaction focused on guiding students toward personal and professional growth. The expert talk provided a comprehensive overview of the expanding role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, highlighting its applications in data analysis, predictive modeling, quality control, manufacturing optimization, and supply chain management, thereby improving overall efficiency and productivity. The speaker emphasized the growing importance of AI in promoting sustainability through carbon tracking systems that help reduce environmental impact and support green pharmaceutical manufacturing. Real-world examples of global adoption by companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Cipla, and technology-driven organizations in Agilent Technology, Singapore illustrated the increasing demand for professionals equipped with AI and digital skills. The session further explored the critical role of AI in clinical trials, where it enhances patient recruitment, monitoring, and data analysis, ultimately reducing trial timelines and improving success rates. The concept of in silico medicine was discussed as a transformative approach in drug development, enabling computer-based simulations to predict drug interactions, toxicity, and efficacy, thus significantly reducing research time and experimental workload.

Additionally, AI-driven diagnostic systems were highlighted for their ability to analyze large datasets for early and accurate disease detection, while its role in personalized medicine was underscored through the design of individualized treatment strategies based on patient-specific data. The talk also addressed advancements in digital therapeutics and virtual healthcare, including remote monitoring and AI-supported treatment platforms that enhance patient accessibility and care continuity. Finally, the application of AI in detecting retinal disorders, radiotherapy, Drug Discovery and other major diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular, diabetes and neurological conditions demonstrated its vast potential in improving diagnostic precision and clinical outcomes.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation of 155 attendees present during the session. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students actively participated and raised queries related to advancement of Artificial Intelligence in several pharmaceutical sectors. All questions were thoughtfully addressed by the speaker, making the session highly informative and motivating for the participants. Ms. Nidhi Sharma, Assistant Professor, presented the vote of thanks and conveyed sincere appreciation to the respected expert speaker, faculty members, students, and organisers for their presence and support. The event was effectively coordinated by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor along with event-coordinators Mr. Manish Kumar (PDP trainer), and Ms. Sakshi Chauhan (Asst. Prof.). The program concluded with group photographs followed by the National Anthem.
