Jahangirpuri violence: VHP leader held for Organising procession without permission

New Delhi, 18th April 2022: The Delhi Police on Monday arrested Prem Sharma, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader for orchestrating the Shobha Yatra in Jahangirpuri without prior permission, said Usha Rangnani, DCP, New Delhi.
A case was filed, on 17th April, against the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal for organising the procession without permission, as per the ANI report.
Earlier, on 16th April, clashes broke out in the Jahangirpuri area, New Delhi due to a Hanuman Jayanti Procession. For the incident, the police had arrested two prime accused, Aslam and Ansar who are in the police custody. While other 14 accused are ordered to be sent to judicial custody for 14 days, said Advocate Vikas Verma.
At the same time, around 10,000 police officers have been deployed in Noida and Ghaziabad. All the vehicles are being inspected at the border, and searches are being conducted in hotels and shopping malls, simultaneously, social media are under surveillance, said Love Kumar, Noida’s joint commissioner of police.
