I started playing golf right here at Jaypee Greens in 2004 when my father and I became members. I’ve spent most of my junior years and early professional career playing golf in India, but I’ve also had the opportunity to compete in the US and Europe, Talwar shared. His dedication to the sport has seen him rise through the ranks, with notable stints on the PGTI and in international circuits, including in Canada. This year, he is set to compete in European tournaments, marking another milestone in his career.

A Long-Awaited Return to Jaypee Greens

The Adani Invitational, a collaborative effort between the Adani Group and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), marks the return of a major tournament to Jaypee Greens after an 11-year hiatus. For Talwar, this event holds special significance. It’s a wonderful initiative, and I think it’s been a long time coming. We haven’t had a major tournament here in a while, so I’m really grateful to the Adani Group for sponsoring this event. I hope this marks the beginning of a long partnership, and we’ll continue to see such events at Jaypee Greens for many years to come, Talwar said, expressing his excitement for the tournament.

A Sense of Home at Jaypee Greens

As a local, Talwar’s connection with the Jaypee Greens course goes beyond the professional realm. It feels like home to me, he said, reflecting on the familiarity and comfort he finds in playing at his home course. Talwar credits the friendly and supportive staff at Jaypee Greens for making his experience even more enjoyable. The staff here is very friendly, and this week feels very relaxed for me. It’s always a pleasure to play here, and I’m thankful to have such a beautiful and well-maintained course to compete on.

A Role Model and Inspiration: Tiger Woods and Anirban Lahiri

When asked about his golfing role models, Talwar was quick to mention the legendary Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods is the first name that comes to mind. I grew up admiring him, and he’s been a major influence on my game, he explained. He also looks up to Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri, whose contributions to professional and junior golf in India have been invaluable. Anirban has been instrumental in the growth of professional golf in India, and watching his journey over the last 10-12 years has been inspiring, Talwar added.

Embracing Technology and Keeping It Simple

While the golf industry is constantly evolving with new technology, Talwar keeps a simple approach to his equipment. Golf technology, especially training aids and new equipment, is constantly changing. There are new brands and innovations every few months, but I like to keep things simple. I don’t tinker much with my equipment; I prefer sticking with what works, he explained. Talwar is a loyal supporter of Titleist, the brand that has been his equipment sponsor for several years. I only use Titleist equipment, and I’m grateful for their support. My bag is filled with Titleist clubs, he said.
