Nov 2, 2022: According to sources, Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for questioning regarding the alleged involvement of his constituency representative (in Barhait assembly constituency) Pankaj Mishra in an illegal mining and money laundering case.

Reports suggest that the ED has directed the CM to appear for questioning at their office in Ranchi’s Hinoo area on Thursday before noon.

The Central Agency has also directed the Jharkhand police to make necessary arrangements at its office to prevent the rise of any law and order problem during the interrogation.

ED said that it has identified proceeds of crime (POC) worth more than Rs. 1000 crore in connection with illegal mining in the case.

The ED stated that their investigation revealed that Mishra was in control of illegal mining businesses as well as inland ferry services in Sahebganj and adjoining areas via his accomplices.

The central agency further alleged that Pankaj Mishra holds considerable control over stone chips and boulders mining as well as installation and operations of several crushers in Sahebganj.
