Noida, 21st April, 2022: The Neonatology and Pediatrics Department of Kailash Hospital and Neuro Institute in Sector 71, Noida has been gaining a lot of attention and praise in its 2 years of functioning. The department’s team has successfully handled a number of difficult and critical cases with a positive outcome.
“Presently, due to lifestyle choices there are problems such as PCOD, PCOS, weight gain that has affected the pregnancy term in women,” said Dr Pallavi Sharma, Director, Kailash Group of Hospitals.
Indeed, thanks to the present technology and trained medical staff, the team is successful in treating many critical issues such as premature delivery, among others.
The hospital is equipped with a three-level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a competent NICU team that can handle all complex cases of low birth weight, prematurity, birth deformities, neonatal infections, and congenital anomalies among other things.
Dr Sharma mentions that there are several tests and medications that can anticipate future complications or abnormalities. The hospital team is well-trained to administer respiratory support and medication through which efforts are made to provide a healthy life to the child. “The rate of survival of these kids have become much much better,” she adds.
Initial challenge was to look for and recruit a specialized team for the department. However, with time now there are doctors, nurses and super specialists available throughout the day to treat and monitor patients.
It is with such efforts that the name and fame of this hospital is growing across the country.
“We get calls from people in different states, we have gained this reputation through word-of-mouth. A lady called me late night from Uttarakhand in February 2022. The mother had uncontrolled blood-pressure pregnant with twins.”They had visited multiple hospitals. In her last two pregnancies, she faced a miscarriage and lost her child after a month. Someone told her that our hospital’s team is competent and will help her,” informs Dr Pallavi Sharma.
After delivery, the twins weighed 1.5 kg and 1 kg. They were treated promptly and were monitored 24 hours a day. Although the first few weeks were critical for establishing feed, nutrition, lung maturity, brain growth, and other organ development and comprehensive tests were performed. Approximately a month after, the twins were healthy and discharged with a weight of 1.8 kg and 1.5 kg.
“Our goal is to keep both mother and child’s life safe even when it means to operate on the mother in the middle of the night. Especially during the pandemic, the hospital team dedicatedly treated covid-positive pregnant females”, said Dr Pallavi.
Dr Ankit Soni, Consultant Neonatologist said that they are receiving patients not just from Uttar Pradesh and NCR, but also from neighbouring states of Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Haryana. He gave an overview of a few difficult situations handled by KHNI.
“In a 32-week premature delivery, the child was suffering from respiratory problems within the first two hours of life. His mouth was foaming excessively. The baby’s condition was severe. Doctors successfully operated on a one-day-old baby with the help of the medical team. The healthy baby was discharged from the hospital without difficulties after 18 days of special care,” shares Dr Soni.
The institute is equipped with neonatal ventilators and respiratory systems. Being equipped is different, it is important to have appropriate training as well. “Our doctors, Neonatologists, after doing their MD in pediatrics they again have to do specialisation in that. Even our nursing team is also trained”, Dr Sharma said.
“Kailash hospital is a brand, has a international standard of quality care. The new hospital has gained and maintained that trust,” concludes the Director of Kailash Hospital.
