New Delhi, 1st June 2023: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has announced that a grand assembly of all khaps will be held today in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, to discuss the wrestlers’ protest, as they extend their support and stand in solidarity with them.

The mahapanchayat will be attended by several leaders and members from several khaps and their heads from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Delhi, said BKU leader Naresh Tikait who also played an important role in persuading the wrestlers on not immersing their medals in the Ganges.

This comes as the country’s top wrestlers travelled to Haridwar on Tuesday, to immerse their medals in the holy Ganges due to the government’s lack of action against the WFI chief, who they have accused of alleged sexual harassment. They decided not to do so after being persuaded by agricultural leaders and instead gave a five-day deadline by the police.
