Lagaan Art Director Nitin Desai left a Voice Note before his Death, Sent it to Closest Friend

Mumbai(India), 03/08/23: Nitin Desai, the acclaimed Art Director who committed suicide in the ND studio in Khalapur on Wednesday, has left a voice message before his death. Nitin Desai, according to eyewitness Mayur Dongre, had sent a voice message to one of his studio workers who was close to him. He also shared what he said in his voice note.

Mayur Dongre, an eyewitness who works on a contract basis for the Art Director’s studio, stated, “Nitin Desai had made a big bow and arrow on the ground late night on set number 6 inside ND Studio. Later, the art director died by suicide by hanging himself at the same place as the bow and arrow…The bow and arrow was made on the ground with a rope by Desai.”

Dongre, who claims to have observed the occurrence, also stated that the Lagaan art director left a voice message before his death.
He said, “Nitin Desai had sent a message to his closest boy last night. In the message, he directed him to visit the studio at 8 in the morning and listen to the audio recorder that’s kept in his office.”

Speaking further, the eyewitness said that the art director asked the staff to come to the studio, where he was found hanging, via a voice message in the tape recorder. He explained, “The first line of the audio recorder was that he is in the studio, and all of you come there.” “When everyone got there, they saw that Nitin Desai had committed suicide,” he added.

The incident was quickly reported to the Khalapur police. Raigad SP Somnath Gharge then arrived on the scene.

Gharge then proceeded to say this to the media in the morning, “We have found the dead body of Art Director Nitin Desai hanging in his studio. Police was informed about this by a Worker on his set. When police team reached the ND Studio, we saw his body hanging. We are investigating the case further for ascertaining all the aspects in this case. A Team of cyber forensic, doctors, and dog squad is here to collect all the evidence.”

The SP concluded, “We can’t say anything else right now. The investigation is underway.” Nitin Desai’s remains were then transferred for post-mortem at JJ Hospital in Mumbai after 9 hours of police investigation.
