New Delhi, Dec 14, 2022: On Tuesday, law student seeking the abolition of reservation abolition withdrew plea after warning issued by Supreme Court as the top court refused to entertain the petition.
A bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha issued a warning to the petitioner Shivani Panwar to impose a cost against her.
The court held that the petition was an abuse of process of law and stated that the petition was filed for publicity.
The apex court also questioned the prayer seeking to abolish the reservation system and raised an objection against the demand made by the petitioner.
The supreme court pulled up the petitioner who submitted that reservation is against equality and leads to a caste system.
“LLM student has filed a plea for publicity. We will impose a cost of Rs 1lakh if you do not withdraw,” the court said.
