Legendry Lata Mangeshkar contracts COVID, admitted to ICU in Mumbai

Mumbai, January 11: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has contracted COVID-19 & the 92-Year-old singer has been admitted to Intensive care unit (ICU) in Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Tuesday.

Her niece Rachna confirmed to ANI that she has mild symptoms & has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons, considering her age.

She stated, “She is doing fine; has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers.”

The Nightangle of India, Lata Mangeshkar was last admitted in a hospital in November 2019 due to viral chest congestion.

She is considered as one of the greatest playback singers in Indian cinema, following which in 2001, she received the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.

Lata Mangeshkar is also the recipient of several other accolades including Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards.
