Madhya Pradesh creates Special Cheetah Task Force

Madhya Pradesh, Sept 22nd, 2022: In line with an order issued by the NTCA, the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department has created a special cheetah task force for further management of the eight cheetahs at Kuno.

Consisting of eight members, the team is headed by former wildlife chief Alok Kumar.

Other members include the Principal Secretary of Forest & Tourist Department, Wildlife Experts from NTCA (National Tiger Conservation Authority), and WII (Wildlife Institute of India).

The task force will be assigned with responsibilities like enhancing facilities for the management and security of the cheetahs, helping them adjust to the new surroundings, their health, etc.

It was also reported that some officers were not happy with the alleged “interference” of NTCA in state matters.
