Maruti Suzuki sales jump 26 per cent to 165,173 units in August

New Delhi, Sep 1: Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest auto manufacturer, announced overall sales of 165,173 units for the month of August 2022, a 26.37 percent increase over sales during the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki’s overall sales for the month included 137,537 domestic sales, 6,155 sales to other OEMs, and 21,481 exports, according to a statement.

“The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly in domestic models. The company took all possible measures to minimise the impact,” Maruti Suzuki said.

Passenger car sales increased by 30% to 134,166 units in August 2022, up from 103,187 units in August 2021.

Sales of micro segment automobiles, which include the Alto and S-Presso, increased to 22,162 units in August 2022, up from 20,461 units in the same month previous year. Compact vehicle sales, which include the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR, increased by 57% year on year to 71,557 units in August 2022.

Utility vehicle sales, which include the Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, and XL6, increased to 26,932 units in August 2022, up from 24,337 units in the same month the previous year.
