Mary Kom, M.P. strengthens Helping Hands of Robin Hibu an IPS from North East

At a time when whole of the country is reeling under a fierce, second wave of Covid-19, some members of civil society, administrative services and parliamentarian are showing the way forward for helping each other and moving forward towards safety and well-being together.

To bring forward one such amazing initiative, Ten News live on Tuesday hosted a special series with Oxygen warriors and life saviours of the pandemic era.

Speaking at the ocassion, IPS Robin Hibu, special police commisioner, Delhi Police and founder of helping hand said, “It is very unfortunate that even amid a pandemic, many are indulging in black marketing of medical essentials, oxygen cylinders, injections etc. We are taking strict action against these devil’s of humanity.”

Talking of his unique initiatives of helping the needy, get oxygen refills, he said, “Through helping hands we started Oxygen ATM and started to serve the needy. My concern is that not having proper provision for oxygen refilling of those who are in home isolation, is leading to health deterioration of many individuals. Moreover, the social media is flooded with so much fake information that most of the messages, links circulating on social media for oxygen refill etc are fake.”

However, while there are adversities, there is also some silver lining that keeps such initiatives going.

As part of it, MP Mary Kom, has contributed 3 lakh rupees to help and support the initiatives of Helping Hands.

“It was truly encouraging emotive gesture, when Mary Kom, India’s famous Role Model and Olympian called me today and assured me. I WILL SUPPORT WHATEVER I CAN DO FROM MY MPLAD FUND IN THIS CRITICAL TIME FOR DISTRESSED COVID PATIENTS FROM NE STATES, PLEASE CONTINUE TO HELP THEM. NO WORDS ARE ENOUGH TO THANK Helping Hands volunteers FOR THEIR SELFLESS SOCIAL WORKS in this dangerous covid crisis,” informed IPS Hibu.

“She has contributed 3 lakhs for OXYGEN ATM and for burial/ Cremation costs of NE people in cities. Deeply touched by Mary Kom’s benevolent concern for our marooned distress NE folks in this unprecedented covid crisis time,” he added.

She is the first leader – Member of Parliament from NE states to support Helping Hands reach out to the distressed and needy NE folks in cities. I have conveyed deep gratitude to her on the behalf of NE folks in cities through Helping Hands, said Hibu.
